This week's pick is different from my others because the point of inspiration was actually the Dolce Gabbana dress below. The designers were inspired by Sicilian Baroque, a movement heavily influenced by the Flemish school. Yet from the early 16th century, the Italian Renaissance started to influence the Flemish painters. The leading Flemish artist was Pieter Brueghel the Elder, who avoided direct Italian influence. His son, Jan Brueghel the Elder, was celebrated in his own time as a major floral still life painter.
