in my secret {fashion} life

Monday, July 9, 2012

Happy post-Fourth of July!  I'm back from some time off and hoping you've been busy enjoying summer as well.  Returning from vacation is never easy--I'm convinced it's what Leonard Cohen must've been talking about in this song, because my secret fashion fantasies about the Fall 12 Couture collections are the only thing getting me through the adjustment period.

Southern California weather as perfect as it is, becomes even more perfect - allowing for diamond crystal long sleeves and high necks to replace tube tops forever...in my secret life.

Required dinner attire is a sheer guipure lace gown...in my secret life.

I ditch my J Crew shorts and nautical tees for a breezy embellished teal dress that billows behind me as I tinkle a small crystal bell and announce that drinks are served...in my secret life.

Strolling into the office, dozens of Santa's elves {who now work for me} squeal in delight over my embroidered tulle Chanel suit...in my secret life.

On days when I need to crack the whip {even elves can mess up} I channel George Sands and make the bikini-clad barefoot girls in Starbucks wish that they too were dressed in head-to-toe tails...in my secret life.

The days of sitting in traffic are over. I click my heels three times and skip out the door in a demure little Blue Riding Hood outfit...in my secret life.

Won't you tell me about your secret fashion life?

Wonderful...in my secret fashion life, I wear lots of vintage dresses that are too expensive for me to normally afford and I also own a closet full of Ellie Saab dresses to go grocery shopping in ;) Then they won't seem so boring :)) Hope you have a marvelous week doll! xox

I love your secret fashion life, and I actually think you could pull off that teal dress. My style is very understated, so my dream would be completely outrageous. Off to check out the couture shows. I haven't seen Elie Saab yet and clearly it was amazing.

Welcome back, Mary Jo! Can I just admit that I cam not think in terms of fall fashion just yet? We are under a heatwave, oh who am I kidding - I think it's going to be like that the entire summer - so my looks have become even more minimalist than usual and I haven't worn a pair of trousers in weeks. Plus, I need a summer holiday. Soon.
Your secret fashion life selections are so elegant! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you! xo

haha, this is completely a post I can relate to and love. Hope you enjoyed yourself during the time off. I've been loving the Elie Saab collection. But, to be honest anything from Erdem's collections always makes me happy. Prints and colour galore ... art wonders to be worn. :) -xxoo

In my secret fashion life, after a luxurious bath and daily morning massage by Alexandro, my handsome massage therapist, whom, when not massaging, works as a romance novel and/or underwear model, my maidservants would roll in breakfast on a rolling table covered with crisp white cloth and dressed with steaming hot coffee in a silver carafe and a plate of chocolate croissants. My stylist would accompany them and deliver the days designer lookbooks for me to choose whatever I would like to wear, depending upon my day's shhhhedule. {Do we really have to come out of our fantasy world now, lol? I'm kind of liking it there!} On a serious note, glad you had a little time off, Mary Jo. You're right, we change into our leisurely selves when on vacation and our inner selves pout at the thought of dressing in "grown-up" business attire once more. Maybe you can sneak just a couple of hours in a day and pretend that vacay is still around! xox Have a lovely week, Mary Jo!

I looove that first dress!! My fashion fantasies involve a lot of dresses- I'd wear one almost every day if it was practical. (I say almost because I also love jeans!) I'm going through the same thing as you- just back from vacay and having a hard time getting back into the swing of things.
