Clarence-Hinkle-Laguna-Beach

This classic view of Laguna Beach painted by the early twentieth century painter Clarence Hinkle, is also the view from where the Laguna Art Museum is now located and currently showing a major retrospective of Hinkle's paintings. The post impressionist style Hinkle brought to his work; more abstract with broader strokes and his use of black and bright color with an emphasis on line, differed from other landscape painters of his generation.

Hinkle's bold cream and black palette captures the dazzling light of summer and is the jumping off place for this week's art inspired fashion post.

I love these art inspired posts, they're so thoughtful!

I meant to tell you, I tried to purchase Naked State of Mind but the system tells me you don't ship to Ireland after all :(

I like his post impressionist style. Impressionism remains my favourite movement in painting.
I've been trying to stay away from black this summer, but I still can't resist the LBD from time to time and I like to pair it with a cream hat or flat sandals. The green wallet and orange lipstick are just the perfect pops of colour, Mary Jo! Wouldn't see any better combination. :)

You're killing me with the Paul and Joe Sister blouse. I bought too many of these blouses in France - but this one is sublime! Interesting painting of Laguna, which normal artists depict as very blue and green and this one is pale. ( BTW, I'm in the Palisades next week Wed evening onwards until Sat morning if you and Katie are around - I know it's quite far from your beach though...)
