art inspired: chico hayasaki, butterflies
Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Chances are you've seen Tokyo based illustrator Chico Hayasaki's work; it's been featured in Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, and Cosmo Girl. She's also illustrated major ad campaigns for Bare Essentials, Le Sportsac, Nordstrom, and the LaPerla showroom in Milan. Chico was a guest here back in 2006 and we became friends and stayed in touch ever since. I thought her delicate and feminine Butterflies illustration would be a perfect choice for this week's art inspired fashion post.

Details clockwise from top left: Tucker blouse $385; Marie-Hélène de Taillac 22-karat gold multi-stone butterfly bracelet $1,600; Matthew Williamson DNA Butterfly printed silk-chiffon scarf; Pop Butterfly Bronze Blush $25; Just Cavalli peasant dress $1,375; Matthew Williamson printed dress $435; Zadig & Voltaire Coated stainless steel butterfly motif watch; D&G Dolce & Gabbana Black Butterfly Embellished Sandals; D&G Butterfly-print blouse $224
P.S. Chico will be stopping by next week to chat about her newest work, and I can't wait to catch up with her!
