art inspired: yayoi kusama infinity mirrored room - filled with the brilliance of life

This week's art deep purple inspired fashion post looks to the saturated optical effects of Yayoi Kusama, whose soft sculptures and installations influenced artists such as AndyWarhol and Claes Oldenburg. Although her work was forgotten after departing the New York art scene in the early 1970s, she's now acknowledged as one of the most important living artists to come out of Japan . Known for immersive artworks, her current exhibiton at the Tate Modern features a series of rooms covered in psychedelic polka dots, mirrors and more. The Infinity Mirrored room constructed just for this exhibit consists of hundreds of low-energy LED lights reflected by wall-to-wall mirrors, a spectacular spacial void brimming with dazzling sparkling lights. The Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the Tate Modern will close on June 5, 2012.

If you find the right shade of deep purple you can give your LBD a break and make a very elegant statement. I'm willing to start with a pair of shoes at least. :)

I love this colour palette, and I love a deep purple/aubergine hue too. I found the perfect shade of eye-shadow tonight at a Body Shop event but love the trio you've got there!

The Infinity Mirrored Room must be totally dazzling in real life considering how fascinating it was in the video. I love the outfit you put together from the inspiration! The dress is stunning! I love rich shades of deep purple and almost consider it a neutral if that makes sense.

I am feeling much better these days! Thanks Mary Jo!
