I met Daniela Belmondo when I won her organic olive oil-based skincare products on Sarah's lovely giveaway on Haute Design. Daniela's skincare line was so luxurious that I ended up writing about it in my column for Affluent Magazine. Needless to say, her products are wonderful and I thought you'd enjoy meeting Daniela plus finding out a little about her line--enjoy!

occupation: Founder, Belmondo Skin Care
wearing: BCBG Dress, Black heels from Italy, Earrings were a find in Barcelona, both the pashmina and black bag were previously owned by my mom and were a gift from her.
favorite designers: Nicole Bridger - I love what this brand stands for. The labels on the clothing read 'I am love' and their statement says it best 'socially conscious clothing that's effortless, luxurious and makes people feel sexy and special in their every day' totally agree with this! I also like the simplicity and quality of The Poodles along with many other brands at one of my favorite shops called Body Politic.
what style means to daniela: I've never thought of myself as being particularly fashionable and I've come to appreciate my own sense of style over the years. Spending time putting myself together is what makes me feel good and this is my go to style because ultimately when I feel good in what I'm wearing I feel my best and this energy exudes confidence. I don't have a particular style, I just know as soon as I try something on, it's either going to work for me or not and I move on. Style to me is not about following the latest trend, it's about creating a classic look that speaks to me and makes me feel good.
mj: I love your products {as you know} and was wondering if you could talk about the inspiration for creating the line.
daniela: The inspiration for Belmondo Skin Care came from my upbringing in Italy where beauty, pleasure and enjoyment were encouraged in everything from the food we ate to beauty in other people. I grew up in the south of Italy where my grandmother took immense pleasure in finding countless ways of we could use olive oil. We used hand made olive oil soap to wash our clothing, bathe and clean the floors. And so, the idea behind Belmondo Skin Care is based on this. I created the skin care line out of a desire to share the incredible natural properties of olive oil. I’ve formulated this organic olive oil-based skin care line to protect, nourish, and enhance the natural beauty of those who use my products.
What is your favorite product from your line?
daniela: My favorite product from my line is After the Rain Face Toner I love everything about this product and it's so versatile, I use it as a quick refresher, deodorant or to soothe and heal inflammation on the skin. It's also wonderful for soothing skin exposed to the sun and winter elements. It's an all around awesome product to help replenish and fortify the skin with essential oils and nutrients to correct and clarify all skin types.
How do you balance work and personal life?
I can't say I really believe in this notion of balancing work and personal life. I drove myself crazy for years making my life feel more 'balanced' all I was doing was focusing on lack of balance in my life and therefore creating more of it. I now take a different approach, I don't look at my life as different compartments, rather I ask myself how do I want to spend my time everyday and what's most important to me and the people I want to surround myself with everyday. And then I act from this place of being rather than trying to control how I can better balance my life. This way of being somehow feels 'balanced' and I've become more in tune with myself and I can recognize when I really need to take time for myself in order to really be able to give when I'm working on what I love and spending time with the people that matter the most in my life.
What products do you recommend for post-winter/pre-spring skin care?
For post-winter/pre-spring skin care, I'd recommend The Dunes Exfoliator and a weekly treatment using The Earth Clay Mask, both of these products will help to slough off dead skin cells and bring out a more radiant and refreshed skin ready for the new season. Daily use of After the Rain Face Toner is a great product to use as well for it's nourishing benefits to the skin.

Thanks so much for coming by yesterday Mary Jo! It is great finding that special routine. Before it I was always trying things that just made me look greasy or made me break out. I should totally check out the products by Daniela Belmondo! I love olive-oil-based stuff! I have this organic soap that's made from pure olive oil. It's old school but it's amazing! I even use it when I have a bad stain on any of my tops. Don't ask me how but it works! Hope you're having an awesome day! x

Oh, I'm lost in the world of makeup, mineral powder foundation is about as far as I ever get on a daily basis, and sometimes not even that. I'm very much a girl who likes to go au natural, however, that being said, if I am going to wear makeup (which I do on special occasions), I prefer organic and natural things.
Re your comment: That's fantastic! I would love to have a song to play while I brush my teeth in the morning, but I'd have to bring headphones, seeing as I get up at 4:45 A.M. for work, and everyone else is still sleeping ... don't suppose they'd appreciate me blasting music, haha.
