eye on style: elie of punctuation mark
Friday, January 27, 2012
This week's Eye on Style guest is Elie, a blogging friend who I was happy to meet up for lunch with this past weekend when she was attending a conference in Los Angeles. You may be familiar with Elie's blog, Punctuation Mark, always filled with lots of good links and ideas. I think you'll enjoy meeting her!

name: Elie Fournier
location: Miami {though I'd like to say one day "the world"}
occupation: Interior Designer who loves everything about hotels
wearing: Jeans, Uniqlo; Top, Gilly Hicks; Shoes, AllStar Converse; Scarf and Handbag, Banana Republic; Sunglasses, Anthropologie
favorite designers: My whole life always loved Gucci because it's style was more tailored that other brands. When Tom Ford became the main designer he became my favorite not just because up until today he has created some of the best collections and accessories but also because he has a great sense for business.
what style means Elie: It is that unconscious decision we all make when we dress. It is something that has changed and evolved in my life as it has changed... when I was a design student it was very monochromatic as I never had time for anything, then I started working and it became much of or what it is today: colorful accents, tailored pieces, pairing basics with accessories, great shoes, and no matter what always be comfortable in my own skin.

It's wonderful to see a girl behind the blog, makes it even more special.
On a different note - loving that private beach shade very much, what a beauty!

"...always be comfortable in your own skin."
That is one of the most phenom observations. What you wear means nothing if it's not you. :)
I'm familiar with Punctuation Mark :) I like Elie's relaxed beach style here. Being comfortable in own our skin is so important no matter how we dress.
Love Elie! I had the pleasure of meeting her a while back in NY. Such a great girl. Hope I get to meet you too one day, Mary Jo! Happy weekend :) xoxo

Love her response to what style means to her!
So nice to find Elie here. One's personal style should always evolve, even if we must stay true to what represents us. Accessories, yes, always invest in the best accessories you can afford. That's my philosophy.
I hope you're enjoying a wonderful and sunny weekend, Mary Jo. We had a sunny Saturday too, the only difference being that I had to enjoy the sunshine at a temperature of -10 degrees celsius. xo

Elie seems like such a lovely person—how fun that you two were able to meet—I am certain you had a wonderful time!
As for the interview, I especially enjoy the response to the style question... it is always interesting to look back and see what was our "look" in previous years and what it is now...
Hope you both had a fabulous weekend.

You know as you age and perhaps get past 40, which is my situation, you to evolve in fashion and I think one starts to dress more from an inter knowing about oneself rather than a statement of searching...
Just yesterday I had on jeans some ndc sneakers and just t-shirt and my husband said I looked amazing, I thought this is strange, because 2 years ago I would have called that just hanging at the house cloths, but know I feel much more like me and even venture out and get really positive feedback from others.
I have come a long way with fashion and now feel as she has said, comfortable, and also as she said that is in the end the most important thing...
Have a great week Mary Jo..

I forgot to tell every one that TOM FORD lives right behind my ex-hubands house and aboutr 15 minutes from mine and he is often at parties and about town here.. and I too, love his cloths while he was at the helm there...
