eye on style: alexa at the short and sweet of it

Today's Eye on Style guest Alexa over at The Short and Sweet of It, doles out short and sweet bits of SoCal style several times a day with her friend Kirby. I find myself addicted to their pretty posts and thought you might feel the same way. Enjoy!

occupation: Marketing Writer and Blogger at The Short and The Sweet Of It
wearing: Red coat from a factory outlet in New Zealand. Is it embarrassing that I don’t remember the name of the store? Black leggings: Target. Boots: Bass Outlet. Belt: Also Target! To be frank many things in my wardrobe come from Target, but I have no shame here. Scarf: Florence Outdoor Market. Clutch: Anthropologie. It was a Christmas gift from my sweet husband, who apparently has radical taste, or he just listened when I screeched: “I want that!!!”
favorite designers: Marc Jacobs because his dresses are always intriguing, plus he can do no wrong with his perfumes (I’m addicted to the gardenia scent). Kate Spade because I have a heart for all things fun and girly and when does Kate not deliver on that? I’m also a frequent shopper at Ann Taylor Loft when I want to pretend I’m a professional working woman. And at J. Crew whenever I want to wear something that makes my girlfriends screech: “I want that!”
What style means to Alexa: Style reflects personality. Whether its calmness, quirkiness, elegance or coziness, someone’s fashion style speaks volumes about how they are feeling on a particular day. I think mine has changed drastically since becoming a mom. These days I opt for something comfortable and not too fussy, but also something that speaks louder than workout pants and a tank top (admittedly I wear those a lot too).
This fall I’m loving stylish boots (without heels), trench coats, skinny jeans, leggings, and scarves representing every color under the rainbow.
