eye on style: alexis at north on harper

This week's Eye on Style guest is Alexis - we met at a blogger lunch last spring and have stayed in touch ever since. I enjoy her upbeat style and think you will too!

wearing: Alice+Olivia Dress, Louboutin PeepToes, faux snake skin purse (I can't remember where I got it from!!! have had it forever...) and Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in Caprice, silver necklace: gift. I wore this dress on my anniversary. I knew I had to rush from a fashion show to dinner with my husband and I felt like this dress made a great transition- the dress has a sexy silhouette, but is jersey material. I traded out my bigger bag (stuffed with my camera, flats for running, snacks, band-aids and the like) for a clutch. The shoes are killer (both in looks and in pain) so I was happy that most of the day's shows were at Lincoln Center. The length was great for sitting and taking photos, while still looking lady-like!
favorite designers: Gosh... I love Chanel. I say this every season (and in between many many times...) I love that it is equal parts classic and cutting edge (I almost always surprised by an element of the collections). Plus it captures that tough meets feminine feel that epitomizes my sense of style. And of course there is Karl Lagerfeld is my favorite mad genius. I am also fond of Burberry Prorsum (it is British with Edge). I could go on and on and on.... but I am practicing self control.
what style means to alexis: I think style is when you make fashion personal. For me that means mixing high/low, old/new and wearing it with confidence. Oh! You have to be willing to take risks (even if you fail miserably), because it is more important to have personality than to fit in.

I totally love it how this outfit is all in neutral colors, yet they're different shades and so make it all look interesting. I also think her hairstyle is perfect with this dress!!!
