art inspired: fernand leger's les trapézistes

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

If any artist were calling to be recognized as a leading inspiration for Fall 2011 fashions, it would have to be Fernand Leger, whose architect training and emphasis on geometry merged with the desire to depict the every day man as an object instead of a subject in order to liberate painting from sentimental value. The objects of consumer society became the subject instead, and many consider Leger to be the original pop artist, who went on to influence Hans Arp, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Ellsworth Kelly, and Frank Stella.

Detail-LRG

This outfit replete with many Leger colors, is one that I would happily wear into fall. I love the creamy coat, the lovely lined detail of the blazer and of course those fun red pants! What is your fall palette shaping up to be?

I admit I'm not the biggest fan of pop art, but I love how it inspired your outfit. The coat is gorgeous, love the line. As far as my colour palette for this fall goes, I'm sticking to neutrals and adding shades of red and green and maybe others too in terms of accessories.

LOVE those black and red gloves. HOT! As for hair, I have been using Ojon, but it has a very acquired smell. I also really like Kiehl's Olive Fruit Oil Treatment.

My fall shopping palette had a lot of orange, burgandy, and espresso. I am almost done I just need to get like 4 more pairs of shoes... Home decor is nothing like fashion, it's all about maximizing space and incorporating colours...I haven't a clue on how to decorate my mom picked everything out in my condo!
