eye on style: tabitha from bourbon and pearls

Friday, July 15, 2011

Did I ever mention that one of my secret fantasies is to run off to Scotland? That may have something to do with why one of my favorite daily reads is Bourbon & Pearls. Mostly I'm a fan because Tabitha is not only ridiculously chic, but her witty personality keeps me coming back for more. Where else will you read that the only socially acceptable way to decorate a man's groin is with the sporran {that's a kilt, people}, or enjoy style posts peppered with vade mecums and fashion descriptions that involve the word crepuscular. I think you will enjoy meeting Tabitha, today's Eye on Style guest!

IMG_2155

name: Tabitha

occupation: Muse, writer, aesthete and creator of the velvety virtual salon, Bourbon & Pearls.

location: Edinburgh, Scotland

wearing: Tallulah and Hope navy cape, J Brand Love Story jeans, Chanel 2:55 bag, Pebble London gold cuff, Chloe boots.

favorite designers: If I could overcome my claustrophobia, don a stocking and rob a bank, then my wardrobe would be beautifully arrayed with chalky Farrow & Ball toned concoctions from Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, and Donna Karan. I like clean lines, a defined silhouette and a classic colour palette but I am not immune to the call of a little frou frou chiffon number for cocktail soirees.

In reality I head to J Brand for jeans, Gap for t’s and white shirts and for the rest I have no brand loyalty whatsoever.

what style means to Tabitha: Styling is the world’s second oldest profession. Since time immemorial we have been expressing our true selves through clothing. Whilst the arty ones set about decorating the walls at Lascaux with charcoal etchings, the less artistic like myself, picked up a feather or two, strung a row of shells to the edge of a tanned hide and voila, the long walk across Europe’s tundra just became that little bit more interesting for everyone.

p.s. Tabitha is the 50th Eye on Style guest! You can read up on the other 49 style mavens by clicking on the right hand index.

Thanks Mary Jo! What a wonderful intro and remember my door here in Scotland is always open to you.
I booked a hair cut today, until I saw that photo I had no idea my hair had gotten so Rapunzelesque.
