eye on style: jody from about last weekend

Today's Eye on Style guest is one of my favorite blog reads--I just love Jody's sense of humor and great personal style. Please welcome Jody from About Last Weekend.

name: Jody Brettkelly
occupation: Oops, don't seem to have one...a paid one anyway. Bit remiss of me. Mum (unpaid) to four incredibly annoying but delicious sprogs, aged 13 to seven, and Blogger (unpaid).
location: Photos taken in my front yard in Oakland, California where we arrived eight years ago, via a 15-year-layover in London. Originally a Kiwi from Ohope Beach.
wearing: After 49 years I've learned to stick to fitted or tailored. Love boho chic and floaty but I usually look like Mrs Roper after a bad night with the three downstairs. Plus wary of anything approaching pink as worried about looking mumsy. So this shirt is a bit of a departure for me, it's floaty and flappy and pinky. Shirt: Borne, Elise Berger Trousers: Miriam Ponsa Sandals: Ted Baker, Wood bracelets: Gamaya, Barcelona, Italian bead necklace: Chic, Oakland, Maori Kit (bag): Otara Market, NZ.
favorite designers: Kate Sylvester (Kiwi skate girl goes glam), Lesley Evers (you're living in a Slim Aarons photo), Marc Jacobs, (preppy with a silly twist) and a couple of months ago I discovered the fabulous Mary Jo Matsumoto (Hollywood glamour for the everywoman). Definitions are my own.
what style means to jody: Whatever is clean and close to hand, then add something unexpected. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If it's after 3pm I do have my four stylists in residence who are also my photographers – they work for snacks. They never put me crook, as we Kiwis say. While taking the first photos, Cy, aged seven said: “Your trousers are wrinkly and so is your neck – get Dad to show you how to iron.” Well I can't do anything about the neck (the dreaded slippage) but I did get my husband to iron the trousers when he got home...Think he did quite a decent job, don't you?
