when clouds are looming

One question that I see cropping up hourly on blogs and twitter is what to wear to a spring wedding? To complicate matters, it's been rainy, windy and cold in many places, even here in "sunny" California.

It's hard to go wrong with a navy dress right now, thanks to a certain royal someone. {This one by DVF is just a suggestion, there are tons of great navy dresses to pick from right now}. I also love the idea of a looser softer trench and a complimentary scarf to add some warmth and protection from the weather. Worried that the look is getting too stuffy? Make sure to add a glam pair of strappy sandals--if you're worried about being too cold, substitute a pair of nude heels. Finally I adore the hit of a lipstick pink accessory to keep things fun!

that is definitely a good question, it seems to be so hard to dress for! but i like that dress a lot!
Such smart picks, Mary Jo, though I'm honestly not sure what to think about the dress. It's simply a style I've never tried on so I have no idea what it would look like -- at least on me.
I am going to say: this is a GREAT idea... and I am a professional- invited to 4 weddings between April and early June!
I especially like the clutch for the pop of color!
This really is a perfect spring wedding look. I loveee Kate Middleton blue!
I'm on the hunt for a summer coat but I look awful in trench coats, I tried on every style in Burberry last year. The search continues for a coat once again.
This is just perfect for a spring wedding! (and I was just saying the other day haven't been to a wedding in years, I miss them!) Yes it's been variously freezing and rainy here in Oakland and the trench is perfect over the long sleeved dress. I just did months of research on trenches (an insight into my obsessive personality) and picked a Mackage one, very plain but did love this DVF one too. Very fun with the heels and lolly pink purse...
Gorgeous look!
Love that python clutch!

Esp. love that dress:-)
Hope all is well I've missed your blog b/c life has been nuts, so sorry!
Great minds think alike - I've been trying to figure out what to wear for a wedding coming up in the next 3 weeks. I've decided to make a NAVY BLUE dress because I couldn't find what I like at the stores! Actually, it might be denim (it's kind of a casual wedding). Now all I need to do is add that trench. Love it!
impressive selection you've chosen here. glamorous and chic.
I love the idea of a trench & nude heels!
I really don't think you can go wrong with wrap dresses, ever. Good picks.
