art inspired: andy warhol soup can (green & purple)

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Welcome to the newest trustyourstyle weekly series! As some of you know, when it comes to fashion, I love all things art-inspired and recently launched a limited artist edition collection of couture women's dresses, working with a few of my favorite artists. Today's inspiration is from the classic pop series first shown in Los Angeles in 1962. Few saw the original show and even fewer sold, but the controversy over whether the paintings were really paintings caused an uproar that snowballed into a major American art movement.

Andy Warhol became the highest-priced living American artist and today one of his soup can paintings will set you back a cool 12 mil or so. Here is this week's trustyourstyle art inspired outfit from the next soup can series he did in 1965. What do you think? Would you wear this soup can look?
