eye on style: our new intern emily

Today's Eye on Style guest is my intern Emily, who has been helping me out this month as we gear up for February's debut of my clothing line and a special limited editions line that I'm very excited about. Believe it or not, so many of my interactions at all levels of production and retail are with people older than me who are so jaded that it's always great to be around the positive energy of students. I think you will enjoy meeting Emily!
location: Irvine, California
occupation: Student at the University of California, Irvine, interested in pursuing a career in fashion public relations
wearing: striped blazer, printed scarf from H&M, navy blue off-the-shoulder 3/4 sleeve blouse from H&M, braided belt, gray jeans and flat black boots.
favorite designers: I don't have too many 'favorites' because I think they all contribute to fashion and creativity, but here are a couple: definitely Marc Jacobs, Alice and Olivia, Alexander Wang, The Row, of course Chanel, L.A.M.B., Marchesa and Thakoon.
what style means to Emily: Style to me is a way of expressing yourself through personality. It's a way of accentuating what you have...and what you don't have. Style can be a pain but you have to make it work. It's an exercise, building self-confidence just like when I'm wearing 5 inch stilettos. Style is observing haute runway shows and taking the garments to fit into your own style. Style is grabbing those essential that turn an outfit from shab to fab. Most importantly, style isn't something you have, it's something you are.
