eye on style: shannon from the simply luxurious life
Friday, November 19, 2010
Today's guest is another twitter/blogging friend, whose blog, The Simply Luxurious Life, always has some wonderful eye candy or a delicious recipe to make my day just a little cheerier. Her aim to make life a bit more lovely, cozy and joyful, is one of the reasons I so enjoy Shannon's style.

location: in my home just after slipping out of my heels, blouse and dress pants
occupation: high school English teacher, freelance writer, blogger
wearing: my ultimate comfort outfit, Citizens of Humanity jeans found at a consignment store, Seams To Fit, American Apparel T-shirt, Tory Burch Reva flats
favorite designers: Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Caroline Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu
what style means to Shannon: Style is having respect for yourself. Style is knowing how to dress your body. Style is not needing a label to prove you’re stylish. Style is looking just as breathtakingly beautiful in well-fitted jeans as a couture gown. Style is a necessity for a life well lived, not a luxury. Style is being respectful. Style is not apologizing for who you are and accepting others for who they are. Style is wearing your clothes, not letting your clothes wear you. Style is a healthy self-confidence. Style is passion personified. Style is taking a risk now and then. Style is freedom from the conformity of others. Style is a quiet self-confidence. Style is the perfume you choose to set the tone for the mood you’re about to create. Style is wearing a mixture of high and low designs and being able to strike the perfect balance. Style is looking just as stunning in a pair of Wellingtons as a pair of Jimmy Choos. Style is being comfortable in your own skin. Style is something only you can create for yourself because you are an original. Why Not . . . Have Effortless Style?

i love the black & white picture - stylish but natural - my fav style. "Style is being comfortable in your own skin." - wonderful thoughts!
"A style does not go out of style as long as it adapts itself to its period. When there is an incompatibility between the style and a certain state of mind, it is never the style that triumphs." Coco Chanel

I love "The Simply Luxurious Life", like so many others out there. This interview is terrific.
she is truly fabulous in many, many ways! I enjoy visiting her blog as well as receiving her newsletters—always full of inspiration and fun ideas or even just different angles in which to view things.... also, love the quote "style is being respectful". Nicely put!
I'm off to meet Shannon now. Thanks.
Oh my gosh! I know that blog. It's one of those you spot while you are poking around and then get upset with yourself for loosing it. Thanks for sending me that way again.
