Yesterday I had a nice escape to Los Angeles, first attending a press lunch at L.A. Louver in Venice to see the new show, Alice Neel: Paintings, which opens tonight at 6 p.m. I'd been wanting to see the now concurrent show of her work at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, so this intimate exhibit of 16 paintings was a wonderful opportunity to experience her work. Alice Neel is known for capturing the inner character of her subjects, and in person the paintings are truly spectacular. Photos do not do justice to the style, technique and personality of the work, so if you have a chance make sure to stop by. The show at L.A. Louver will run through June 26.

It was such a beautiful day, I loved driving on to Malibu to visit my friend Cece's store, Rock and Revolution before dinner in Santa Monica. It's always fun when I get to be on the beach side of the city. And speaking of beaches, tomorrow I will have a slew of bathing suit tips for those of you who are starting to consider your summer swimwear.

p.s. I'm extending the fab däv Rainboot/flats + umbrella/handbag giveaway through the end of Friday {midnight PST}. Don't miss out, it's a vey cool and generous one!

Loving the art and to see the beach just on a regular day - what I wouldn't do to be able to do that. I am living vicariously through you. =) I'm looking forward to your tips on swimsuits. Will most definitely be back tomorrow. Have a lovely Thursday. =) And thanks as always for stopping by.

Alice Neel is one of favorite painters, and you're right in saying that reproductions do not do justice to he lucious surfaces. I'm jealous!
