room with a view: karyn's pink frosting/melamine inspired dreamy kitchen!

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Frosty cupcake colored images have taken the blog world by storm. Heaps and piles of pastel dresses, lacy underpinnings, handbags, perfumes, rooms, cakes and other goodies have made their way into my Flickr favorite folders. So it's no surprise that the moment I caught a glimpse of the pink tiles and hardware going into the renovation of Karyn's {girly style memo} Singapore kitchen, I was smitten. Her mention of pastel frosting and melamine 1950s colors as her inspiration sparked my vintage/all-that-is-girlie-loving side, and I knew I had to feature Karyn in TrustYourStyle.

Karyn's kitchen: the transformation begins!

Then real life kicked in. Renovations take time. Having grown up in the home-building/interior design world, you'd think I'd understand. But man I was dying to show you guys this dreamy marshmallow colored fantasy!

So I kept checking back with Karyn as things progressed...

I think you'll agree it was worth the wait! Four months later, I'm still every bit as excited to introduce you to Karyn's deliciously sweet pink-and-white kitchen!

mj: First things first, what inspired you to design your kitchen in pastel frosting colors/1950s melamine colors? More importantly how you get your hubby to go along with this?

karyn: We both vividly remember all the melamine-wares we used during childhood. It brings back a lot of warm memories spent in our grandmothers' kitchens. I have always dreamed of a pastel colored kitchen. I'm really glad my hubby loves my idea. so before the renovation, we sat down and discuss about the design and color of the kitchen. We both wanted a 1950s-inspired kitchen. My hubby suggested pink and white. I couldn't be happier. These are two of my favorite colors. :)

I don't know about you, but I'm dying over this pink Smeg {of my dreams} in lucky Karyn's kitchen!

Thank you Karyn so much for sharing your lovely kitchen with us!

Super lovely! The pink and white looks great, the pink itself isn't overwhelming at all. And that glass wall enclosure, an ingenious solution!

OMG! That kitchen is gorgeous. I'm not much of a cook, but I'd sure try to take it up if I could use your kitchen. ;-)
