room with a view: kathleen's bold and beautiful office

It's week two of TrustYourStyle's "Room With A View" series and I'm really excited because today's guest, Kathleen of Liquid Sky Arts: Senseless Beauty, has always inspired me with her beautiful posts. She was one of the first bloggers that I used to read when I first launched tys over four years ago, so it seemed only appropriate to invite her to be a part of this series, especially when I saw her beautiful new office at Papaya, where she is the head of design product development. Enjoy!

As one of my favorite sayings goes... being afraid of color is like being afraid of being happy. When choosing paint swatches for our company's new building, I decided on a bold pink color to match the upholstery on the mid century modern style chairs that came over from our old studio.

My workmates handcrafted this amazing desk for me, armed with a skillsaw and drawings I gave them with birds and scrollwork (inspired by a piece I fell in love with at Anthropologie). The top of the desk is also handmade, covered in a sheet of galvanized metal, giving it a modern edge. I seriously have a mad crush on this desk!

The oversized corkboard for my wall was also custom built. Perfect for displaying projects, and for creating an inspiration board.

I always feel inspired coming into work, surrounded by things that inspire me. My walls are usually a reflection of the current project I’m working on. I often tack up long strands of ribbons to clip artwork into floating galleries of all of the new designs strung together. The rest of my décor is an ecclectic mix.

There’s a fantastic chandelier that hangs in front of Moroccan inspired embroidered curtains, alongside Chinese folk art paintings. I think Betsey Johnson said it best, "if you love it and it is beautiful, then it goes with everything else you love and is beautiful".

I love that there are no boundaries when it comes to how everything is arranged in my office at work, the creativity flows so easily. I’m definitely in my happy place.

Fantastic post! Thank you Mary Jo and Kathleen for sharing this with us! I have to admit, I was hooked as soon as I saw the pink in the first image....it's so stunning!

I will definitely consider using more color in my own life after reading this :)

What a lovely office! I would feel so at ease and inspired here. Not to mention that the cute pup might help, too! My office is still under renovation, but it's becoming promising -- I will keep these images and inspiration in mind!

Fabulous post :)
