"A great picture exerts a force on your psyche. It penetrates every pore of your skin and stays with you like a tattoo." ~ Richard Polsky

I started reading this over the weekend--the ultimate I should've had a V-8 moment in the art world--a memoir by high-stakes art dealer Richard Polsky, who sold his beloved "Fright Wig" by Andy Warhol for $320k, only to see similar Warhols sell for about $70-$80 million two years later! (Ouch). Intimate and satiric, the story picks up where Polsky's 2003 memoir I Bought Andy Warhol, a chronicle of his twelve-year search to acquire the painting of his dreams, left off.

I highly recommend it if you're an artist, collector, or art lover--which just about covers everyone who reads trustyourstyle. If you'd like to win a copy of this book about the intoxicating world of art that Polsky calls "high school with money", all you need to do is leave a comment below and tell me where art fits into your life.

p.s. I will be back soon to announce the winners from last week's give aways!

I adore that Polsky quote - it's so profound. This sounds like such a wonderful book.

Art fits into my life in fashion. It is with me when I get dressed in the morning - my body serving as the canvas, my clothes serving as the instrument. :)

I try to draw at least once a week if not more and if I can't, I work on my photos or do something crafty to make up for it.

I thinks it is much more difficult to NOT have an art filled life than it is to love art everyday.

I would love to read the book. It involves my friend and art dealer Jonathan Novak, so it would be quite interesting to get the inside scoop on one of his transactions. The last art bubble
saw great fortunes made and now possibly lost.
Also, I understand the mania and desire to own a Warhol. Once one desires his work, it is impossible to not be obsessed. I guess the book is the next best thing.

This seems serendipitous to me. I thought a lot this past weekend about shifting my focus away from finding galleries and toward finding a good art dealer. I have a fondness for Warhol on a host of levels, and on top of all that I need a good book for the plane ride to NY next week.

Plus, I have never entered a TYS giveaway before.

Huh. I'm an art student right now, so art fits into every freaking nook and cranny of my life, and on all of my walls and in the margins of all of my notebooks...

I would a chance to win!

Art fits into my life as I aim to see the beauty and creativity in many mediums. While I may still be trying to find a "talent", I deeply appreciate art in forms of literature, music, painting, fashion, ...and am continuously inspired by others.

Thanks for the opportunity!
