diy christmas tree
Having a handmade handbag business for so long put me off all things DIY--whenever we were in a pinch to get orders out (which in a small business is pretty much daily), I'd pitch in and help orders along. I think that's pretty much where I lost any interest in crafting things. But now I'm (purposely) much less involved in this end, and have been enjoying doing a few little projects around the house just for fun.

The other day I saw this great wire Christmas tree that had plastic green and red beads strung all over it. I brought it home, took off the beads and fixed it up with some leftover semi-precious stones (pearls, clear quartz drops, mother of pearl, rose quartz, and turquoise) in my work room.

Voila! (I actually have it on my dining room table, but the light in there is tricky to capture, so I moved it to the kitchen for the photos). I think it looks so subtle and sparkly + I love the watermelon colored rose quartz and turquoise as a fresher take on Christmas colors. There are tons of wire Christmas trees at craft stores, etc. and you can easily make a version of your own with pretty beads or using old jewelry etc. Simple gold craft wire is easy to string and will keep beads secure, plus it's easy to cut with regular scissors and wrap by hand.

There you have it--Trust Your Style's first DIY project ever! If you make a tree, I'd love to see it, so please email me a photo!
