Samantha Hahn; Brooklyn, NY
Occupation: Illustrator/surface pattern designer/ blogger/art teacher
Samantha is wearing a Barney's coop silk shirt, high waisted Joe's jeans, Marc Jacobs stacked heels and an orange belt from 6th grade.
Samantha told me that if she had to choose one outfit to wear for the rest of her life it would be "a fabulous pair of dark jeans and a magenta silky blouse cut to perfection. Simple, clean but bold." And if she had to pick a fancy outfit to wear forever? "A mermaid gown from the 30s or one of Zac Posen's designs that echoes that period."
Samantha's style: I listen to my internal barometer and wear what I like and what I feel good in. I manage to sneak a little trend into my personal style but I'm no slave to it. I would say that I'm somewhat influenced by street style. I live in Brooklyn and work in New York. I see people that take chances and risks everyday with fashion. I admire those who listen to their own fashion barometer. I know my body and what I feel good in. All that being said, I'm pretty eclectic. I can be comfortable in a 70s secretary shirt with high waisted jeans or a wildly patterned Betsy Johnson frock, or simply cut Caitlin Mociun skirt. I'm inspired by new designers I see on the blogs I love. I also have a good eye for vintage so I love little shops off the beaten path where I can dig for treasures! San Francisco has some good ones.
Samantha's favorite designers: Nanette Lepore, Marc Jacobs, Mint, Catherine Malandrino, Philip Lim, Katayone Adeli, Ivana Helsinki, + Rebecca Taylor.
