gimme some lip

Hello, I am Mary Jo and I am a lip gloss/balm/stick-a-holic. Sad but true, it's one of my vices. I keep a fishbowl of all of the above mentioned by my desk and my bag is usually stuffed with three or four options too.
The good news is that I'm on top of the latest and greatest lip wear and have a few fab products to suggest that might perk up your summer--plus they cost a lot less than a new pair of Prada sandals.
First off is Cosmoholic, the new liquid lipstick that goes on like gloss but has the nice qualities of opaque lipstick. All you Mac Lip Glass haters listen up: geeky scientists conferred with some beauty experts and found a formula that isn't sticky but is super shiny with no shimmer. I'm a fan of Prudish Pink (goes with everything) and Rockstar Red.

I'm also really loving this sweet and simple organic Tangerine lip balm by Aubrey. No matter how great the gloss or color, I always like a good balm underneath.

Aubrey also has a really wonderful line called Natural Lips. It's got a hint of sheer color and feels cool and minty on your lips. I'm partial to Pink Pearl, Strawberry and Sugar. It also comes in Mocha, which looks pretty if you have a tan.

If anyone is up to speed with the latest for lips, it's my favorite makeup artist Peter Lamas (I've written about Peter a few times--you can read his interview here). I love anyone who's more of a maniac about lips than I am! I've met models who have had their makeup done by Peter and they always laugh and say that he insisted that they bring a soft toothbrush to brush their lips before applying makeup--it's one of his lip commandments.
When Peter told me recently that he had a new lip product, I paid attention and tried it out as soon as I could get my hands on it. Colorful Lip Enhancer by Lamas, plumps your lips up to 40% and minimizes fine lines on and around the lips. Apply 2-3 times a day and at bedtime to hydrate, stimulate collagen production, increase moisture and add a natural-looking, juicy hint of color. Beauty editors at Cosmo, Elle, and W all recommend it and I give it my seal of approval too--it's great!

Finally, I have to say that this fat over-sized lip balm--Ecocentric Lipcare by Pangea Organics (I got in a gift bag at Sundance)--is my can't-live-without daily go-to lip balm. I love the way it feels and it's also big enough that even someone as absent-minded as I am has a hard time losing it. I have the Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom and never tire of it.
That's all I have to say about lips for now. Hoping you get a chance to try some of these on and out on all your favorite people this weekend!
