Hello everyone, I'm just checking in briefly today because I'm starting to experience what they call "spa brain" here at Golden Door. I went on a beautiful hike this morning and after I meet with my trainer, I've lightened my schedule today to just body treatments and time at the pool. My muscles are a little pooped and I really need to rest at this point.
Before I sign off, I have to say how much I enjoyed the "How To Get Happy" class with Annharriet Buck, a stress management consultant and long-time counselor at Golden Door. One of the things I loved about her lecture was her explanation of the difference between optimists and pessimists. To reframe things so that you are experiencing more happiness, she suggests that when things are difficult to tell yourself, "couldn't this be temporary?" and when things are going well to say to yourself, "couldn't this be permanent?"
