Lady Dulcinea is a life-sized paper sculpture by Eloise Corr Danch

It's sale time, and while I don't seem have to have the gene--you know the one that gives certain ladies the ability to scoop up the best clothing deals in those minute windows of time--I'm starting to realize that it can be learned.

My first sale score of the summer: doesn't every one need a pair of furry boots?

My mom and I stopped by Nancy Koltes in Laguna Beach for a special champagne sale that she was having and I have to say that sipping champagne definitely makes shopping more fun, plus we got to meet Nancy in person (some of the damage I did is pictured above. Seriously, my bottom floor is travertine and gets chilly at night--I've already been wearing them!). Even if there isn't a champagne party/sale in your neighborhood, you can always pour yourself a glass and hit the online sales--which ultimately might be more rewarding.

shopzilla.com and pricegrabber.com are two places that I usually check if I'm looking for the best price, but I recently learned about some other places that the uber/marathon/queens and kings of sale shopping go to for the best buys and I'm going to share them with you:

* Perks, discounts, free shipping: shopping.yahoo.com
* Get an alert when the item you want goes on sale: glimpse.com
* Before purchasing online, open a new window and type in the site's name and "coupons" to see what turns up--often free shipping and more.
* Discount codes at major e-tailors at couponcabin.com or retailmenot.com
* Scout for the best prices and discount codes at cheapuncle.com
* My personal weakness: shopittome.com, which lets you select your favorite designer brands, (click on the page that has the more extensive list) and you'll be notified whenever it goes on sale at major merchants.

Don't want to spend a dime? If you're in NYC, you can visit the Paper Sculpture
Installation by Brooklyn artist Eloise Corr Danch at the Rockefeller Center Anthropologie store Gallery in Manhattan. But good luck getting out of Anthropologie without spending a dime...

Stay tuned because Eloise will be stopping by tys for an interview very soon!
