made by girl: trends, feelings, and emotions

One of my favorite bloggers, Jen Ramos of Made By Girl, has stopped by today for a little chat. I love her aesthetic and always think she has some of the best interior/photo spreads on the web. mj: How did you get interested in interiors and what inspires you in that realm?

jen ramos: I've always been interested in interiors ever since I was a young girl. I've always been inspired by new trends as well as feeling and emotions and try to incorporate those things within my space...sort of personalizing it and making it feel like my own. So when I look around, I see pieces of furniture or pictures etc, that remind me of different things in my life.



mj: I know that you used to design coffee tables and the switch to a stationary line is so surprising (in a good way)! How did that come about? And again, what are your inspirations for your eco card line?



jen: The switch came after I came back from my Hawaiian vacation in September of 2007. I felt a need to try to make changes in my everyday life, no matter how small they may seem....but the desire and the need to go "green" and more environmentally friendly is something I think has to be done. So switching from tables to 100% recycled cards and placing messages in those cards along with my site I hope to inspire and send the same message to others. The message is "we need to take care of our planet and every little thing we do to help everyday counts".

mj: What is your favorite home interior that you've ever covered and why?



jen: My favorite home interior...hmmm I don't really know if I have a favorite. My newest favorite pic is a poster I recently designed called "ABC Love poster" I have it hanging in my office....its been doing quite well in my online shop.
