Last week ended early for me with a treatment scheduled at LeSpa at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles.
One of the things I most enjoy about writing about spas is checking out the widely varying architecture and design. I hadn't been inside the Sofitel since it underwent a 40 million dollar transformation last year and thought the decor was stunning! While many spas subscribe to an airy, white, and bright atmosphere, LeSpa is filled with deep colors. The wood paneled walls are covered with sleek metal sculptures, the furniture is modern with dark wood and leather. The plush dark pile rug extends into the locker room, where you are given a soft black chenille robe and a pair of spa slippers with a black patent-like strap--very cool.
I tried out the wonderful "So You" massage, customized exactly as I asked. LeSpa offers a variety of unique massages, including Prenatal, Sports, and Stress Relief. I should also mention that LeSpa boasts an extensive list of services for men with gent-friendly body treatments, manicures and pedicures.
The massage concluded with LeSpa's signature citrus drink. I give LeSpa an A+ for quiet atmosphere--I did not hear one other patron's voice during my entire massage. While most people fall in love with the rainfall shower that feels like a tropical storm, it was the sparkling dressing table oozing old Hollywood glamour nestled on the dark plush carpet that got me. A beautiful cut crystal bowl with floating pink rosebuds and a little spray of tiny white flowers on my dressing table was the final perfect touch.
If you live in Los Angeles, I highly recommend calling Le Spa at (310) 228-6777 to schedule a blissful break. Keep in mind there are 27 LeSpa locations worldwide, so you can go to sofitel.com to find one near you.
