the inara ritual

A peaceful buddha in the Asian-inspired Catamaran Spa

I had the great pleasure this weekend of enjoying a two hour and twenty minute massage (the "Inara Ritual") at the beautiful Catamaran Spa in San Diego.

Inara: one of the best organic skin care lines available

A big part of the reason that I was willing to make the drive from Los Angeles is because I'm a huge fan of Inara certified organic bath products which are harvested by a woman's co-op in Brazil. One of the signature ingredients in Inara's product line is Babassu oil, which comes from the fruit kernels of the Babassu Palm. It's so luxurious and moisturizing, I knew I wouldn't want to miss out on this treat.

Inara Sugar Rub

The Inara Ritual begins with a sugar rub that melts into the skin followed by an incredible Babassu/buttermilk bath that leaves your skin feeling unbelievably soft. After the bath you're wrapped in a body mask and Babassu oil while you receive a scalp and face massage. The massage therapist helps you slide out of the wrap into a Swiss shower before you indulge in a full-body Babassu oil massage that ends with Babassu body cream.

Afterwards you are guided into a peaceful room where a pot of warm tea is waiting and you can relax futher (if it's possible) while reclining on a lounge chair.

Once I headed to my room, I was in for the night. My suite at the Catamaran opened directly on to the sand and the bliss continued in the morning as I had coffee while taking in the harbor.

The Catamaran Resort Hotel is a great one or two-day getaway for anyone visiting or living in California who needs a bit of ultimate pampering. If you can't find the time, you can always indulge at home with Inara products by ordering from www.inaraorganic.com. Before I sign off I want to thank Diane Nagler and Julia Johnson for putting this exquisite experience together, and my fantastic massage therapist--it was such a wonderful weekend!
