WINGING IT!

Birds Trying To Escape Their Drawing by Peter Callesen;

I've been writing rapturously about Tord Boontje for the last couple of years (here, here and here)...even my family knows how much I love his stuff--my dear mom ran out and snagged the Tord Boontje limited edition plates at Target (they sold out in the first 2 weeks!) for my Christmas present.

I never thought the day would come when I might like someone else's work almost as much. Fellow art-lover Joel Purcell emailed me a link to Danish designer Peter Callesen's website: www.oncotton.co.uk and I was blown away. (I almost feel like I'm cheating on Tord just writing this!)

Peter describes his work as being "inspired by fairytales and romanticism exploring the relationship between two and three dimensionality, between image and reality." He also feels that his figures "still stick to their origin, without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is...an aspect of something tragic in most of the cuts."

More on Winging It:

The Trust Your Style Valentine Countdown continues...

Looking for affordable Valentine's goodies on the fly?

Bombshell Accessories sent over this fun little photo. Their "Wings of Desire" styles were inspired by one of New York's hottest celebrity designers, Rachel Leigh. While Leigh's "Dolce" pendants require a little more bank at $180 a pop, the Bombshell gold and red replicas are being sold for only $6.95 and $9.95 a piece! This is a gift that will definitely leave you with enough left over to wine and dine your sweetheart.

But if money's no object, I have another idea...

A few years ago my ex generously took me to Europe, the only problem was that he wanted to "wing it". As we ran to catch our plane, late before we even started, I knew that "winging it" was not going to be a lot of fun. As it turns out, it was a wonderful trip partially because our last minute accomodations were so bad, we ended up checking into The Savoy Hotel in Florence, and my all-time favorite, Hotel de Russie in Rome.

These two wonderful world class hotels, along with many other luxe and exotic featured locations around the world can be yours to enjoy worry-free with a gift certificate through www.luxurylink.com.

And if you're dead set on being last-minute and have the desire and the means to impress your loved one, then I'd suggest a Marquis Jet card. Why not "wing it" with your loved one via private jet?
